The Offspring is an American punk rock band formed in 1984 in Garden Grove, California, initially calling themselves Manic Subsidal. Founding members included Dexter Holland (vocals/guitar), Greg Kriesel (bass), and drummer James Lilja.
Guitarist Noodles (Kevin Wasserman) joined a short time later, and they changed the band name to The Offspring.
Their current lineup consists of Holland (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Noodles (lead guitar, backing vocals), Todd Morse (bass, backing vocals), Jonah Nimoy (multi-instrumentalist) and Brandon Pertzborn (drums).

The Offspring have released 11 studio albums, sold over 45 million albums worldwide, and have won a Billboard Music Award (BBMA), and an MTV Europe Music Award.
Their song "Smash It Up" was included on the Batman Forever soundtrack, and "D.U.I." was used in the movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer".
They are one of several California bands, including Bad Religion, Green Day, Rancid, Pennywise, and NOFX, that spearheaded a renewed interest in punk rock music in the mid-1990s.
