Madonna leads this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominees with 11 nods, followed closely by Taylor Swift with nine nominations, CBS Entertainment announced Tuesday. The pop divas will compete for Video of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Madonna announced Thursday that she has returned to her original label, Warner Records, for a new dance album.

Lady Gaga rocked a crowd of 2.5 million at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) on Saturday, smashing the previous record (for a female) of 1.6 million for Madonna at the same venue last year, according to Variety.
