Diddy Asks Judge for $50 Million Bail and to Drop Convictions

On Tuesday, Sean "Diddy" Combs asked the judge in his federal trial to release him on $50 million bail pending his sentencing on October 3rd, 2025, on prostitution-related convictions.

Sky News reported that Combs' lawyer argued that "conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn are dangerous and noted that others convicted of similar offences were typically released before sentencing."

Combs was convicted on July 2nd, 2025, on two federal charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, and was denied bail at that time. Combs has been held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest on September 16th, 2024.

In a new motion today, Combs has asked the court to dismiss the convictions altogether, or retry him, according to Rolling Stone magazine. Combs claims he hired the male escorts for their time and created “amateur pornography” protected by the First Amendment.

Combs was originally tried earlier this year on five federal counts, including racketeering and sex trafficking. His legal team argues that if the jury convictions are not overturned, that the judge should grant him a new trial “focused solely” on the two prostitution counts.

On a related note, Maurene Comey, the lead federal prosecutor in the case against Combs, who also worked on the prosecutions of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, was fired by the United States Department of Justice two weeks ago.
