Elijah Wood to DJ at Lord Of The Rings-Themed Rave

Elijah Wood and Zach Cowie are taking their vinyl-only DJ duo set Wooden Wisdom to a Lord of the Rings-themed rave in Denver, Colorado, on May 31st.

Wood is famous for his portrayal of hobbit Frodo Baggins in director Peter Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings film trilogy, based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Cowie is an Emmy-nominated Hollywood music supervisor.

The rave will follow Wood’s appearance at Fan Expo Denver to celebrate 25 years since the first Lord of The Rings movie by Jackson.

An Instagram post by the venue, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, was shared on Wooden Wisdom's official Instagram page:

"Cervantes' is thrilled to welcome famed actor Elijah Wood to Denver on May 31st as he brings his vinyl DJ project, Wooden Wisdom ft. Zach Cowie to our stage! Join us in a night of fantasy, fun and grooves. Costumes encouraged."

NME magazine quotes an additional statement saying, "dust off your cloaks, and sharpen your elvish ears. Whether you are a devoted LOTR fan or simply a lover of great music and great vibes, Wooden Wisdom will transport you to Middle Earth and back.”

Wood told Stephen Colbert that Wooden Wisdom plays everything "from the ’70s through to the ’90s, a lot of international stuff, African, Turkish, [but] we do not play hits."

Wood is quick to point out that he does not go by the alias "DJ Frodo".

During an interview on Seth Meyers’ talk show nearly 10 years ago, Wood said that it was “unequivocally false” that he was using the name. “I would be insane to call myself DJ Frodo.”

Wood founded a record label in 2005 called Simian Records, and has starred in music videos for Beastie Boys and The Cranberries.

Wood is rumoured to be reprising his role as Frodo in the upcoming film The Hunt For Gollum.
