Michael Jackson Estate Disputes Paris Jackson's Money Request
Michael Jackson’s estate has rejected a $1.16 million claim by his daughter Paris Jackson for legal fees, The Washington Times reported Thursday.
According to court documents, the King of Pop's estate attorneys helped themselves to $625,000 in bonuses in 2018. Paris hired lawyers to fight the payout and won in April 2026. A court ordered that the bonus money must be returned to the estate, and that Ms. Jackson is entitled to “reasonable” legal fees.
Estate co-executor John Branca objects to her $1.16 million request, calling it unreasonable.
"Mr. Branca contends that Ms. Jackson is seeking payment for unrelated legal expenses and is overstating how much she saved the estate, noting some of the bonus money was returned voluntarily," The Washington Times stated.
"He says he supports paying her for the disputes she won and the benefits she provided, but not beyond that."
Michael, who died on June 25th, 2009, left an estimated $500 million in debt. The estate has reportedly cleared the debt and increased his estate's net worth to over $2 billion. The beneficiaries of the estate reportedly include his three children Paris, Michael Joseph "Prince" Jackson Jr., and Prince Michael Jackson II (who split a 40% share), plus Michael's mother Katherine Jackson (40% share), and charity (20% share).
