Eminem Publisher Suing Meta For $109 Million

Updated: Jun 11

Eight Mile Style is suing Mark Zuckerberg's Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp) for $109 million and asking for an injunction, alleging copyright infringement of 243 of Eminem's songs, according to PEOPLE magazine.

The suit claims that the songs have been used in millions of videos and have been streamed billions of times “without proper attribution or license.” The plaintiffs are asking for $150,000 for each of the 243 songs that they allege have had their copyright infringed. They have also requested a jury trial.

"Eight Mile Style alleges that Meta violated the copyright of 243 songs from its catalog. Eight Mile Style claims Meta did so through the 'unauthorized storage, reproduction and exploitation' of the 243 songs on the various platforms."

The music publishing company is owned by Eminem's production team The Bass Brothers (Jeff and Mark), who control the rights to the rapper's music catalogue from 1995 to 2005. Eminem is not directly involved in the lawsuit at this time.
