Morrissey Cancels Las Vegas Residency Days Before Opening

British singer Morrissey, 67, has cancelled his four-show Las Vegas residency scheduled to start this week at The Wynn due to "unforeseen logistical challenges", Rolling Stone magazine reports.

The controversial former frontman of legendary alt-rock eighties band The Smiths was scheduled to begin his run at the Wynn Las Vegas' Encore Theater this week.

"Hello, we regret to inform you that Morrissey – Live in Concert, scheduled for August 14, 15, 18, and 19 at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, has been canceled," an email to fans on Friday read. "Due to unforeseen logistical issues, the scheduled Las Vegas residency cannot take place."

There was no elaboration on what logistical issues caused the cancellation.

Morrissey has a history of cancelling and postponing concerts, including make-up concerts for previously postponed shows.

Consequence magazine reported in January of this year that Morrissey has cancelled or postponed more than 200 concerts since 2012.

Rolling Stone reported that Morrissey cancelled or postponed concerts in California at the start of 2025, "due to an adverse reaction to a prescription medication."

"His Atlanta show was nixed 'due to artist illness,' his St. Louis show was canceled day of because of 'flu,' his Dominican Republic show was canceled for 'reasons completely beyond our control' the organizers said, a St. Petersburg, Florida show was canceled without explanation, and a gig in Valencia, Spain was called off because of 'sleep deprivation' due to a loud festival nearby that 'left Morrissey in a catatonic state.'"

In total, he cancelled 22 performances in 2025, with another 10 postponed.

Morrissey is next scheduled to perform on September 19th at Chicago’s Riot Fest.
