Final Ozzy & Black Sabbath Concert Raises $190 Million for Charity

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, who served as Musical Director for Saturday's all-day BACK TO THE BEGINNING mega-concert send off for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, announced via his Instagram page today that the event raised more than $190 million for charity.

All proceeds go to Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital, Acorn Children’s Hospice and Cure Parkinson’s.

Morello wrote in part, "It was over a year of hard work but heavy metal was the music that made me love music and it was a labor of love. We raised a ton of money for a great cause and so many great musicians & bands & fans all over the world paid tribute to the ALL TIME greats."

The concert, attended by 40,000 people and streamed by 5.8 million viewers, was held in Black Sabbath's hometown area Birmingham, UK, and starred all four original members of the band, including lead singer Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler, drummer Bill Ward and guitarist Tony Iommi.

Some of the biggest hard rock bands in the world performed, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Anthrax, Lamb Of God, Halestorm, Rival Sons, and Mastodon.
