KISS rocker Gene Simmons crashed his Lincoln Navigator SUV into a parked car Tuesday afternoon while driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, multiple sources have reported.
The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in the 25000 block of Pacific Coast Highway. After receiving a 911 call from a witness, deputies and firefighters attended the scene. Simmons, who was apparently travelling alone at the time, was briefly hospitalized to check for injuries.
Simmons, 76, told deputies he passed out or fainted, then hit the parked car, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department told NBC4 Investigates.
Simmons' wife of 14 years, Shannon Tweed, told TMZ that her husband "passed out while driving down PCH. His SUV veered into oncoming traffic and traveled across several lanes before hitting a parked car."
Tweed told NBC4 Investigates that Simmons is recovering at home. "She said doctors recently changed his medications and that he needs to drink more water -- something of which he's not a fan."
"In a voicemail message to NBC4 Investigates, Simmons said he is doing fine."
