Horror Film
By Curtis Newart
May 22nd, 2026
Billed as the ultimate killer Bigfoot movie, Slash Squatch is the story of an axe-wielding Sasquatch who ravages a small town to the beat of heavy metal music.
"Get ready for a heart-pounding ride with Slash Squatch, a thrilling creature feature that echoes the suspense and excitement of classics like Tremors and the 1988 remake of The Blob," the Slash Squatch website promises.
"Brace yourself for edge-of-your-seat tension and adrenaline-fueled action, brought to life with stunning old-school practical effects. This is one monster movie you won’t want to miss!"
Slash Squatch is an original full-length feature film written and directed by Aaron Bratcher, and starring Toni Hudson, Lynn Lowry, and Bill Oberst Jr.
They toured the indie film festival circuit in 2024 with a short version of the film, receiving accolades from Days of the Dead Film Festival (Official Selection - Shorts), the Chicago Horror Film Festival (Best Horror Gore/Blood - Short), and the 13horror.com Film & Screenplay Contest (Best Special Effects).

"We are currently over 93% through filming this massive horror adventure film, and have our last shoot dates scheduled for this coming August," said Bratcher.
"We will be filming all the last missing special effects and pyrotechnics, as well as an extended cave exploration sequence."
The film is shot entirely "in-camera", with live special effects and stunts instead of digital effects. Vast landscape sequences were filmed near Mount Hood, Oregon.
Bratcher grew up outside of Portland, Oregon. He directed his first feature film, Pawns’ Volition, at age 22 while actively serving in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he returned to Portland to pursue filmmaking full-time.

Slash Squatch has used Indiegogo crowd funding to develop the project.
"We're currently offering post-production financial investment opportunities with guaranteed return on investment," key filmmaking partner Matthew K. Smith stated.
"We aim to have the film ready to premiere and show to distributors before the end of the year," said Bratcher.
The soundtrack is planned for release on vinyl.
