Billboard Music Awards 2024
The 31st Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) were held on Thursday night in Vegas.
Billionaire Taylor Swift made history by winning 10 awards, including Top Artist, and Top Female Artist, bringing her to a career total of 49 BBMAs. And, it was the night before her 35th birthday. I like Swift. She only popped up on my radar about five years ago, with a reputation for dissing ex-boyfriends in her songs. She has developed into a force to be reckoned with - her recently concluded Eras Tour raking in over $2 billion dollars. She is a known philanthropist and humanitarian. One thing we learned about her influence, though, is that despite having 283 million Instagram followers, her endorsement did not help win an election.
Zach Bryan won five awards, Morgan Wallen won four, and Best New Artist award went to Chappell Roan. Surprisingly, the Top Song Sales Artist trophy went to Shaboozey, who I only heard about a few weeks ago for his song "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" because it was riding the number one spot on the US Billboard's Hot 100 for so long (19 weeks).
