Britney Spears' Ex-husband Fears For Her Life

Britney Spears' former husband Kevin Federline fears for her life, according to Billboard magazine.

They report that Federline fears Spears' wellbeing is at stake and wonders if the termination of her conservatorship in 2021 was the right decision.

Federline questions the singer's parenting and mental health in newly published excerpts from his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew. He alleges that Spears exhibited shocking behavior towards their children Sean (20) and Jayden (19).

“They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” Federline wrote in one of several excerpts shared by The New York Times. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”

“The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible,” he says.

“It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK,” Federline wrote. “From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”

“I’ve never, ever, once, been against Britney,” he wrote. “I’ve only tried to help my sons have an incredible relationship with their mother. And it’s hard because when I really reflect on everything that’s happened — my kids do not know the woman that I married. And I’ve spent two decades trying to bridge that gap.”

A representative for Spears shared a statement with Billboard.

“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off [Britney],” the spokesperson wrote. “Sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir [The Woman in Me].”

Spears and Federline were married from 2004-2007. Sean and Jayden were placed in their father’s custody following the couples' separation. In 2023, the children moved to Hawaii with Federline.

His memoir is scheduled for release on October 21st, 2025.
