Lil Nas X Charged With 4 Felonies After Nude Run-In With Cops

Lil Nas X was charged today with four felonies after police say he assaulted an officer and resisted arrest during an encounter early Thursday morning.

Video shared by TMZ shows two-time Grammy winner Lil Nas X in a pair of tighty-whities and white cowboy boots strutting down Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. The 26-year-old reportedly charged officers, injuring one, before being taken into custody shortly before 6 AM on Thursday. TMZ noted that the singer has a new album coming out.

Additional video obtained by TMZ apparently shows Lil Nas X completely nude at one point during the incident.

"Prosecutors charged the musician, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer," according to The Guardian. They also reported that he was initially booked on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer.

The singer has pled not guilty to the charges. He faces up to five years in jail if convicted on all counts.

"They say he charged at the officers when confronted and was arrested. Police, suspecting a possible overdose, took him to a hospital where he spent several hours before being taken to jail, where he has remained since."

"He was being held on $75,000 bail, conditional on attending drug treatment. It’s not immediately clear whether he had posted it and been released yet. A message to his attorneys was not immediately answered."
