"LOST" MOTÖRHEAD RECORDINGS TO BE RELEASED

Updated: May 8

Motörhead has announced that the first recording session by the band will be released as an 11-track album named The Manticore Tapes. The tracks were recorded at rockers Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s iconic Manticore Studio in Fulham, London. The album includes alternate takes and a song named "Motörhead" (click here to listen).

Recorded in August 1976, The Manticore Tapes is the first ever official studio recording of the band's classic lineup (known as the three amigos), consisting of Lemmy Kilmister (vocals/bass), "Fast" Eddie Clarke (guitar), and Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor (drums).

"Nearly five decades later, the long-lost 'Manticore tape' has been unearthed, restored, and is now set for release as The Manticore Tapes on 27th June to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary," states a press release.

"The result is a truly historical moment in the evolution of hard rock's finest heavy icons, restoring and bringing to the public eye for the first time ever a vital part of Motörhead's evolution and history."
