A teaser for Michael, the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, was shared today by Lionsgate. It was viewed over 30 million times in the first six hours, according to Lionsgate Motion Picture Chair Adam Fogelson.
Michael, starring Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson, 29, is scheduled for theatrical release on April 24th, 2026.
"The trailer features Jaafar acting out several key milestones from the King of Pop's career, from his early days in the recording studio to his 'Thriller' music video and his record-breaking 'Bad' tour in the late 1980s," Yahoo News commented. "Jaafar's hair, clothing, and overall look transform across these scenes, as did his uncle's in real life."
"The film’s cast also includes Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney, John Branca," Rolling Stone magazine reported, plus, "Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson; Nia Long as Katherine Jackson; Jessica Sula as LaToya Jackson; Larenz Tate as Motown founder Berry Gordy; Laura Harrier as music executive Suzanne de Passe; and Kat Graham as Diana Ross."
Lionsgate said, "MICHAEL is the cinematic portrayal of the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists the world has ever known."
"The film tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson Five, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world."
"Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. This is where his story begins."
The film was directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody), with John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate.
