Michael Jackson's Hit Song "Thriller" Shatters Record

Michael Jackson has become the first artist in history to score a Top 10 hit song in six different decades.

Jackson's "Thriller", from the 1982 album of the same name, first entered the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1984. It was supported by the landmark 14-minute music video directed by John Landis.

Last week, the song re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #32, following its annual Halloween resurgence.

This week, the song jumped to #10 on the chart, setting history.

"The late King of Pop's 'Thriller' gives him top 10 placements in every decade from the 1970s through the 2020s," Billboard magazine reported.

"In March 1984, 'Thriller' reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 — becoming the seventh top 10 hit on Michael Jackson‘s blockbuster album of the same name, a then-record on the chart. On this week’s Hot 100 (dated Nov. 15), the song reaches the top 10 again for the first time since that run, bounding 32-10."

The previous record was held by Andy Williams, who had Top 10 hits in five decades.
