Jurors in the Sean "Diddy" Combs federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial reportedly reached a verdict yesterday on four of the five charges against Combs. After just 12 hours of deliberations, the jury advised the judge that they had agreed on a verdict on all charges except the number one count of racketeering conspiracy, which alleges Combs ran a criminal enterprise.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, the note from the jury claimed they were unable to reach a verdict due to “unpersuadable opinions on both sides.” Combs was shown the handwritten note in court, surrounded by his team of eight lawyers. The note did not say which way the jury had voted on the four charges.
ABC News summarized that "Combs is accused of being the ringleader of an alleged enterprise that 'abused, threatened and coerced women' into prolonged, drug-fueled sexual orgies with male prostitutes, which he called 'freak-offs,' and then threatened them into silence. Combs has said that all of the sex was consensual and that while his relationships sometimes involved domestic violence, he wasn't engaged in trafficking."
The judge instructed the jurors to continue deliberations, which are expected to resume this morning at the federal courthouse in lower Manhattan.
Combs faces life in prison if convicted on certain charges.
